LI’TYA, meaning ‘Of the Earth’, represents the way in which we perceive the products and ourselves. We have been given permission to use the name by tribal elders, in the spirit of sharing Australia's natural wealth with all those that live within We believe it essential to recognise and thank the indigenous peoples who have begun to share with us some of their vast wisdom.

Aboriginal Elders believe they were the first people to walk the earth. This is an ancient culture (over forty thousand years of knowledge) with a strong connection with the land. The indigenous Australian philosophies state that the earth is the mother of all. The earth is the mother; waterways the blood of the land, and therefore a strong element in the process of ritual and ceremony, the water spirit is known to heal cleanse and even bring forth new life.

It was Aboriginal duty to keep the water pure in return for spiritual connection. The spirit of new life - children could be received through the water. As ochres were around the water they would also be used in ceremonies as a way of connecting with the essence of the life spirit.

LI’TYA seeks to integrate this ancient Aboriginal philosophy within the practice of holistic health.
For health and well being, we must secure our precious connection with earth, on physical, emotional, spiritual and social dimensions, in order to preserve vitality, balance and a sense of harmony. We can do this through holistic lifestyle and way of thinking. Nurture our beings by exercise, sleep, relaxation, and cleansing and pure lifestyle. LI’TYA utilises the properties of the ancient Australian ingredients in their raw form to nurture and purify our bodies and support wellbeing.

Our skin is the interface between the world and us. How we feel about our skin may be an indication about how we feel about our relationship with our world. The ritual of daily ablution not simply cleanses the physical skin from the continual assault of pollution and grime. It is also about providing a time to purify and nourish ourselves, and inducing a sense of serenity.

Each medical tradition, from Eastern to Western to the majority of indigenous cultures, has recognised the significance of the elements. Australian aboriginal culture recognises that each element corresponds with physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of our environment and ourselves. To be in health, we must maintain the balance between these elements both with-in and with-out. The earth element is largely understood as the centre of grounding. Our city scenes and lifestyles generate a tendency for us to become un-earthed – disconnected from the land. How many of us actually feel the land under our feet as we rush from the cement footpaths to our cars, to work and play? Our constant thoughts and activities encourage us to become ungrounded. We need to integrate several practices to remind ourselves of our connection to the earth, in order for health to prevail.

Applying raw earth materials upon your body, within a nurturing environment, offers a special opportunity to reconnect with our earth, providing essential healing and balance. The ancient therapeutic properties found in the LI’TYA peat, earth clays and salts enhance the holistic healing. Used in conjunction with water, imparts another sacred elemental force to this healing, through the products and the hydrotherapy treatments offered. Calling on the ancient tradition of cleansing through fire it is fascinating to know that this age old culture has used smoking (smudging) within ceremonies circling from birth to death to cleanse the etheric energies. Then to complete the cycle air is integrated through the understanding that breath is the essence of life, the earth breathes and the plants and animals are reliant on the vitality of this. It is recognised that our bodies possess an integral energy system that flows in complete harmony within, in and out. It is with surprise and interest for most of us to learn that the Aboriginal people have recognised this and over the centuries have developed a healing modality to assist with this balance. There is a strong interconnection between all existence and to maintain optimum health and wellbeing of the whole each individual element must have a vitality that flows purely, freely and be truly balanced.

How fortifying it is to learn that this ancient land of Australia has been consciously cared for by a culture that has been highly evolved spiritually. It allows us to become wholly connected to the land when we acknowledge that our roots truly do have a deep sense of ageless wisdom, we only have to acknowledge it to inherit the jewels of our lands culture.
